I’ve teamed up with some fab ladies to share our Top 5 picks monthly in a series called the Fabulous FIve. This month our series focus is Valentine’s Day.
As a SAHM of a busy toddler with another baby on the way, my job is a 24/7 affair. It’s rewarding on so many levels but it is also exhausting. Sure the cards, chocolate, perfume are lovely for Valentine’s Day but what if you gave the mom in your life some gifts that keep on giving? I assure you it will be well worth.
Here are 5 Valentine’s Day Gifts That Keep On Giving for Moms:
A Day “Off”
Or a few hours a couple times each week. Whatever! Just offer to keep the kids or dote them to their activities or something. A little me time never hurt a mom (or dad) so make the offer.
A Nanny At Times
Every so often I would love to call up a nanny for a few hours. This could fall into the day off category but that category is meant for husbands, relatives and friends meaning unpaid time! You know a moms will always payback family and friends, right? A year of paid nanny certificates is a mom’s dream. Some mom friends and I just joked about sharing a nanny a few times a month. But we were serious! LOL
Housekeeper, Chef or Both
Forget the nanny, give me a housekeeper or chef. Even better if its a two for one deal. I’d love this once a week. Heck even once every other week would be glorious. Knowing someone is coming to take over these duties that can become mundane and downright annoying is something to look forward to.
Moms Night Out
Or morning out or afternoon out. Whatever. A planned gathering every month or two with girlfriends to do what girlfriends do. Laugh, cry (but only a little), talk smack, eat and laugh some more. No backsies unless one of your kids is seriously sick or something.
More Than a Spa Day
I love the spa but let me tell you the minute I walk out those doors, I know that tranquil feeling will be gone in a few hours, a day or if I’m lucky a few days. So how about a series of massage treatments or mani/pedis instead. Something to look forward to every few weeks.
And here two bonus options:
Date Night
Of course we want date night. Surprise me with a night out boo! Just us and shoot let’s spend the night at a hotel too. Not every time we go out but a little hotel action never hurt a soul! Wink. The caveat… You plan everything! I just want to get dressed (without kid interruption) and go. Blindfold me because I want to destination to be a surprise. Why not?
A Thank You
In words, in actions, on a sticky. Via email, text or even a postcard. A simple thank you goes along way with this mom. Throw in some flowers or something else you know she loves.
All these things make for a better mom, spouse, friend. Get into it!
